Antler Australia Brisbane 2026: Startup Residency, Funding and Eligibility
Queensland entrepreneurs can apply for the Antler Australia Brisbane 2026 residency, an intensive programme designed to help ambitious founders form teams, validate startup ideas and pursue pre-seed investment.
Antler expanded its Australian presence to Brisbane after initially operating its residencies from Sydney and Melbourne. The expansion was supported through a partnership with QIC and was intended to increase access to early-stage venture support within Queensland’s growing startup community.
Brisbane now participates in Antler’s shared Australian residency alongside Sydney and Melbourne. Applicants select Brisbane as their preferred location when submitting the official application.
When Does Antler Brisbane 2026 Begin?
The next published Australian cohort starts on 27 July 2026.
Antler’s cohort page emphasises that 27 July is the programme’s start date rather than its application deadline. Founders are encouraged to apply early, and candidates submitting close to the start should confirm whether they can still join that cohort or will be considered for a subsequent intake.
Antler Australia currently describes its residency as an eight-week, full-time company-building experience offered twice yearly.
What Is Antler Australia?
Antler is an inception-stage venture capital investor. It works with founders before or during the earliest stages of creating a company.
The organisation is not simply a training provider and does not award participation grants. Its objective is to identify high-potential founders, work closely with them during the residency and invest in the strongest companies that emerge.
The residency supports:
- Co-founder matching;
- Problem and idea validation;
- Customer discovery;
- Minimum viable product development;
- Business-model design;
- Pitch preparation;
- Pre-seed fundraising;
- Access to experienced founders and investors.
Participants are expected to work at speed and show measurable progress throughout the programme.
Who Can Apply to Antler Brisbane?
The residency accepts founders at the inception and pre-seed stages.
You may apply without a company, final idea or co-founder. Applicants with a prototype, early customers, initial revenue or an incomplete founding team may also be suitable where Antler can still make a meaningful contribution to company formation and growth.
Antler is sector-agnostic. Its Australian portfolio includes enterprise software, financial technology, insurance technology, climate solutions, healthcare platforms, artificial intelligence, education, consumer services and cybersecurity companies.
The fund is more concerned with the size of the opportunity, founder quality and potential for scalability than with fitting every company into one preferred sector.
How Much Can Antler Invest?
Startups that pass Antler Australia’s investment process may receive AU$260,000 for 12% equity.
The published structure includes a AU$75,000 programme fee, which is deducted from the investment. Candidates should carefully read the final investment documents and seek independent legal advice before agreeing to any equity or fee terms.
Investment is not guaranteed merely because a founder is accepted into the residency. Antler assesses how quickly the founders execute, whether the team works effectively, the size of the market and whether the company can develop a defensible competitive position.
Portfolio companies may also receive follow-on support. Antler Australia reports that it has deployed additional capital into more than 80% of its portfolio and can continue investing in selected businesses as they progress towards later funding rounds.
Its rolling-capital model may cover one-third of a qualifying company’s next round after the startup raises at least AU$300,000 externally within 12 months.
What Does Antler Look for in Founders?
Antler’s selection process focuses heavily on founder potential.
Applicants should demonstrate determination, strong judgment, fast learning and a willingness to pursue an ambitious opportunity full-time. A compelling applicant may have deep technical knowledge, unusual sector expertise, commercial ability, leadership experience or access to customers that other founders would struggle to reach.
Antler’s global application page says only one residency application can be active at a time. It also stresses that building during the residency requires complete commitment and cannot be treated as a side project.
Application Process
Applicants first submit an online profile. The form asks for a preferred location, contact details, professional information and a LinkedIn profile.
Shortlisted applicants speak with members of Antler’s local team and general partners. Successful candidates then receive an offer containing the detailed residency agreement.
Founders applying from outside Australia must obtain the necessary visa independently. Antler does not provide visa services, although it may issue an offer letter after admission.
