Antler is not a conventional accelerator or grant provider. It describes itself as an inception-stage venture capital investor that works with founders from the earliest stages of building a company. Applicants may join before choosing a final idea, finding a co-founder, launching a product or earning revenue.

The next published Australian residency begins on 27 July 2026 and operates simultaneously across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Antler states that this is a cohort start date rather than an application deadline and encourages founders to apply early. Because the start date is close, applicants should confirm whether places remain available before making plans.

What Is the Antler Sydney Residency?

The Antler Australia residency is a full-time, eight-week company-building programme for ambitious founders at the inception and pre-seed stages.

Sydney participants work in a structured environment designed to accelerate co-founder matching, idea validation, product development, customer discovery and fundraising preparation. Founders also receive coaching from Antler’s investment team and access to other entrepreneurs, advisers and potential investors.

Although the Australian programme operates in three cities, applicants can select Sydney as their preferred location on the official application form. Antler advises founders to choose the city closest to where they intend to build their company and establish themselves professionally.

Who Can Apply to Antler Sydney?

Antler Australia accepts individual founders, incomplete teams and existing founding teams.

Suitable applicants may include:

• Technical founders building software, artificial intelligence or deep-technology products;
• Commercial founders with strong industry knowledge;
• Researchers seeking to commercialise an innovation;
• Experienced operators leaving established companies;
• Repeat founders building another startup;

Applicants may already have an idea, prototype, early customers or a small team. However, Antler says companies that have already raised a meaningful pre-seed round may be too advanced for the residency. Founders must be prepared to commit full-time. Antler’s general application guidance says the residency cannot be completed alongside a full-time job, university programme, separate company or significant freelance work.

How Much Does Antler Australia Invest?

Australian teams that successfully complete the investment process may receive AU$260,000 for 12% equity.

Antler’s published terms also include a AU$75,000 programme fee, deducted from the initial investment. Applicants should review the final agreement carefully to understand the amount paid to the company, equity issued, programme fee and other conditions.

Investment is not automatic. Founders must demonstrate strong progress and pass Antler’s due-diligence and investment-committee process.

Antler also operates an Agreement for Rolling Capital structure. Under its published Australian model, Antler may invest one-third of a portfolio company’s next round when that startup raises at least AU$300,000 from external investors within 12 months.

Applicants should explain their experience, customer insight, technical capability, evidence of demand and ability to move quickly. Antler evaluates the founder’s potential and trajectory, not only the current maturity of the idea.

The application begins online. Applicants provide their contact details, preferred residency city, LinkedIn profile and information about their background or company.

Shortlisted candidates meet Antler’s local team and partners. These discussions assess qualities such as drive, judgment, ambition, commitment and the applicant’s ability to build a high-growth company.

Only one active location application is allowed at a time. International applicants must also have the right to enter and remain in Australia. Antler does not arrange visas, although an offer letter may sometimes support an applicant’s independent visa process.
