Technology companies, nonprofits, universities and government organisations can currently apply for the OJJDP FY2026 Strengthening Internet Crimes Against Children Technological Investigative Capacity programme.

The programme seeks technology and investigative solutions that improve the ability of Internet Crimes Against Children task forces to combat technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation.

OJJDP expects approximately four awards, with up to $675,000 per award and total funding of roughly $2.55 million.

What Does the Grant Support?

Projects should strengthen tools, methods and technology used by ICAC investigators.

This may include solutions that help address:

  • Child sexual abuse material;
  • Online child exploitation;
  • Technology-facilitated trafficking;
  • Digital evidence;
  • Investigative workflows;
  • Forensic analysis.

The programme also supports associated training so that tools can be used effectively by law-enforcement personnel nationwide.

Who Can Apply?

The eligibility list is unusually broad.

Applicants may include:

  • Small businesses;
  • Other for-profit companies;
  • Nonprofits;
  • Universities;
  • State governments;
  • Local governments;
  • Federally recognised Tribal governments;
  • Special district governments.

For technology companies, this is particularly notable because many justice-sector grants exclude commercial entities.

Funding

Total programme funding: $2.55 million

Expected awards: 4

Maximum award: $675,000

Matching requirement: None

What Makes a Strong Technology Proposal?

The strongest project should solve a clearly documented investigative limitation.

Explain:

  • Current investigative challenge;
  • Existing technology limitations;
  • Proposed tool or method;
  • Technical maturity;
  • User requirements;
  • Security;
  • Training;
  • Nationwide applicability.

The goal is not simply to create another software platform.

The technology should improve the investigative capacity of ICAC personnel.
