OJJDP FY2026 Community and Schools Youth Drug Prevention Program: Up to $750,000
States, local governments, Tribal governments and nonprofit organisations can currently apply for the OJJDP FY2026 Community and Schools Youth Drug Prevention Program.
The programme is designed to reduce youth substance use through coordinated school, community and law-enforcement prevention strategies.
OJJDP expects approximately 16 awards, with individual grants of up to $750,000 and approximately $12 million in total programme funding.
What Does the Program Fund?
Projects should create a continuum of youth substance-use prevention.
Activities can include:
- Prevention education;
- Early intervention;
- Mentoring;
- Referral to treatment;
- School-based initiatives;
- Extracurricular prevention activities;
- Community coalition work;
- Coordination with law enforcement.
The programme is not intended to fund disconnected activities with no wider prevention strategy.

Eligible applicants include:
- State governments;
- County governments;
- City or township governments;
- Other units of local government;
- Federally recognised Tribal governments;
- Nonprofit organisations with or without 501(c)(3) status.

How Much Is Available?
Estimated total funding: $12 million

What Makes a Strong Application?
The programme emphasises coordination.
Applicants should show how schools, community organisations, families and law enforcement will work together.
A strong proposal may include:
- Evidence of local youth substance-use trends;
- Defined target population;
- Evidence-informed prevention;
- Referral pathways;
- Partnerships;
- Measurable outcomes.
Important Deadline Note
OJJDP’s current programme page displays:
Grants.gov deadline: October 29, 2026
JustGrants deadline: November 5, 2026.
The Grants.gov opportunity record has also shown a later amended closing date. Because the agency’s own two-step submission page still displays the earlier dates, applicants should use October 29 and November 5 as the safer operational deadlines unless OJJDP formally updates its instructions.
